2016 Winter Meeting Highlights, Summer Meeting Plans

There were lots of new faces at the Carolinas/Atlanta 7 X 24 summer meeting in Charleston, August 11–12. Kicking off the meeting was the Women in Mission Critical Operations social. More than 50 attended to network and listen to professional drag racer Kristen Kiger speak. This energetic group is drawing a growing membership, as is the chapter as a whole. New attendees wore yellow ribbons on their badges, and they were assigned chapter “ambassadors” to introduce them to members and help them feel welcome. The networking social was the perfect way for them to meet new colleagues and for veteran members to catch up.

On Friday, everyone enjoyed Eric O’Neill’s keynote address. O’Neil is a cybersecurity expert and former FBI agent. The panel discussion on emerging trends followed.

The 2016 winter meeting is slated for February 22 and 23 at the Raleigh Marriott. Attendance at chapter meetings is limited because of space constraints for the data center tour. Invitations to all events are sent out via e-mail when registration opens. Advise your company’s primary contact, who is located in the member directory, that you would like to be added to the invitation list.
